Popular Jerusalem Hills Restaurant Noa Closes After Three Years in Kiryat Anavim

Noa - Afiyah Mekomit, a beloved restaurant and bakery located in Park Kramim in Kiryat Anavim near Jerusalem, announced its permanent closure after nearly three years of operation. The owners shared the news on the restaurant's Facebook page, expressing gratitude to their patrons for their support throughout the journey.

The restaurant was founded by renowned chef-pastry chef Eldad Shmueli, known for his work in top Tel Aviv kitchens including Claro, Abraxas North, and Herbert Samuel. In 2016, Shmueli left Tel Aviv to open Elhanan, a bakery and bistro in Kibbutz Mishmarot dedicated to his late father, which became famous for its sourdough breads and unique pastries like the knafeh croissant.

In summer 2023, after retiring from Elhanan, Shmueli launched Noa, named after his mother, as a boutique café and bakery offering breads, pastries, sandwiches, dips, and salads. The venue later expanded into an evening bistro with white tablecloths, gaining significant acclaim and popularity, especially as diners sought quality dining options outside Tel Aviv during the recent conflict.

In April 2026, it was reported that Shmueli left the partnership, though the restaurant continued operating until its sudden closure two weeks ago. The owners officially informed customers of the shutdown today. Noa was praised for its rural atmosphere, open terrace with mountain views, and high culinary standards, becoming a favorite destination beyond the central Israeli dining scene without relying on typical "peripheral discounts."
