Reuters: UAE Agrees to Unfreeze Billions for Iran
The United Arab Emirates has agreed to unfreeze billions of dollars for Iran, according to four sources cited by Reuters. Two Middle East sources said the UAE would release $10 billion to the Islamic Republic, while two other sources put the amount at about $20 billion.
According to the report, the money would be unfrozen as a condition for ending Iranian attacks. One source said an initial tranche of $3 billion has already become available to Iran.
Reuters said it was not clear whether the funds came from frozen Iranian accounts in the UAE or from Emirati state money.
