Israeli Supreme Court Temporarily Suspends New Draft Law for Reservists
The Israeli Supreme Court issued an interim injunction on Tuesday, halting the enforcement of the controversial Reservists Law. The court's statement explained that after reviewing the arguments presented both in writing and orally, it decided to suspend the implementation of Amendment No. 28 (a temporary provision) to the Security Service Law, 2023-2026, until a further ruling is made. The petitions challenging the law were heard by an expanded panel of nine justices, led by Deputy President Noam Sohlberg. The bench also included judges Daphna Barak-Erez, David Mintz, Yael Wilner, Ofer Grosskopf, Alex Stein, Gila Kanfi-Steinitz, Yechiel Kasher, and Ruth Ronen. This decision temporarily blocks the law's activation, pending the court's comprehensive judgment.
