Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Stein, Chief Kashrut Authority in Ra'anana, Dies at 76

Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Stein, a prominent religious leader and the chief authority on kosher supervision in Ra'anana, passed away at the age of 76. He was known for his deep dedication to Torah study, fear of God, and extensive volunteer work, including his involvement with ZAKA in the Sharon region. Rabbi Stein was instrumental in establishing and maintaining the kosher certification system in Ra'anana, serving the community with integrity and commitment for many years.

Ra'anana Mayor Chaim Broide expressed his sorrow in a public statement, recalling his long acquaintance with Rabbi Stein, whom he often saw walking near his home on Klozner Street. Broide highlighted Rabbi Stein's professionalism, broad knowledge, sharp intellect, and warm personality, noting that tens of thousands of Ra'anana residents had prayed for his recovery during his recent illness. Despite hopes for his healing, the community received the painful news of his passing.

Rabbi Stein served under previous religious council leaders Rabbi Shlomo Meltz and Rabbi Yitzhak Peretz, always acting without bias and with a deep sense of responsibility. He was buried on Sunday in the rabbis' section of Segula Cemetery in Petah Tikva. The mayor concluded by honoring Rabbi Stein's many years of public service and offering condolences to the community. "May his memory be blessed," he said.
