Finance Minister Smotrich Rules Out Palestinian State Idea, Sets Conditions for Government Entry

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declared at a Channel 14 security conference that the idea of establishing a Palestinian state is off the table, though he noted this position is not irreversible. He emphasized that current government measures aim to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state, particularly through advancing settlement and construction in the West Bank.

Smotrich also outlined a key condition for joining the next government coalition: the dismantling of armed groups in Judea and Samaria and the confiscation of illegal weapons within the Arab sector. He stated, "We must dismantle the Arab army in the West Bank and collect the weapons in the Arab sector."

Addressing concerns about the Religious Zionism party's limited appeal to diverse audiences, Smotrich acknowledged the challenge and said he plans to broaden representation through reserved spots on the party list. He expressed confidence in his parliamentary team and the need to enhance inclusivity where necessary.
