WhatsApp Rolls Out Status Caption Editing for Android Users

WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature for Android users that allows editing the caption of a status update after it has been posted. This update aims to provide a more convenient way to correct or modify the text attached to photos or videos in status updates without deleting and reposting them. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently available to some Android users through a gradual rollout and will be expanded to more users over time.

Users can access the caption editing option via two different methods within the status interface. Once selected, they can update the text and save the changes. However, this editing capability is limited to a 15-minute window after the status is published. After this period, no further edits can be made.

Notably, changes made to the status caption are not indicated to viewers, unlike regular chat messages where edited messages are marked. This means viewers will not see any sign that the caption was altered after posting. The feature is still being gradually introduced, so it may not yet be available to all Android users but is expected to reach a wider audience soon.
