WhatsApp Tests Customizable Emoji Reactions for Android Users

WhatsApp is expanding its personalization features by testing a new update to the emoji reaction system on its Android app. The upcoming change will allow users to replace the default emojis shown in the quick reaction bar with their preferred custom emojis, enabling faster and more personalized responses to messages. Currently, a long press on a message brings up a quick reaction bar with common emojis, and users can open the full emoji panel to select others. The new feature aims to streamline this process by letting users customize the quick reaction bar itself.

According to WABetaInfo, this feature is currently in beta testing on WhatsApp for Android and is not yet available to the general public. As with many of WhatsApp's developments, the option may gradually roll out to more beta testers before becoming part of the official stable release. This update follows several recent improvements to message reactions designed to enhance interaction speed and personal expression within the app. There is no confirmed timeline for when the feature will be released to all users.
