IDF Nearly Fires on Four Suspected Militants Who Were Actually Israelis in West Bank Incident

A serious incident occurred in the West Bank when an IDF force nearly opened fire on four masked individuals mistakenly identified as a terrorist cell. The event took place overnight between Saturday and Sunday in the Samaria region. Early in the morning, IDF observers spotted four suspects running from a road toward an open area, raising suspicions of an imminent attack. A ground force was dispatched, using lighting and drawn weapons to search the area. Two of the suspects were found hiding in bushes and, just before the soldiers fired, shouted that they were Jewish, preventing a potential tragedy.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects were part of a group returning from a nearby Palestinian village. Their vehicle had overturned during the trip, prompting them to flee on foot toward the fields. The two were detained for questioning following the incident.

This event follows a similar case about two weeks earlier in the Benjamin area, where military observers identified three armed individuals. A combat helicopter and an unmanned aerial vehicle were deployed, but just before an airstrike, it was discovered that the suspects were Israelis involved in illegal gunfire near a Palestinian village. These incidents highlight ongoing tensions and the risk of misidentification in the volatile West Bank region.
