Rabbi Moshe Applebaum, Author and Scribe, Dies at 87 in Bnei Brak

Rabbi Moshe Applebaum, author of the book 'Sheirei Mitzvah' and a respected scribe for the Neot Yosef community in Bnei Brak, passed away at the age of 87. Born in Argentina in 1939, he spent his life in Israel as an expert sofer stam (scribe) and was widely known for his devout faith and humility.

His life story deeply moved many in the Torah world, especially the miraculous birth of twins when he was about 72 and his wife 54, an event that brought great joy and was seen as a divine blessing. Rabbi Applebaum was remembered by family and acquaintances as a humble, dedicated servant of God who studied Torah daily and prayed with great sincerity. The late Rabbi Alter David Chaim Stern even described him as possibly one of the hidden righteous.

He maintained close ties with prominent rabbis such as Rabbi Yaakov Edelstein and his son Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Edelstein. Rabbi Applebaum's funeral took place on Saturday night at the Neot Yosef study hall in Bnei Brak, and he was buried at the Yarkon Cemetery in Petah Tikva. His family is sitting shiva at their home on Radak Street in Bnei Brak. May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
