Meir Kleiner Releases Balkan-Inspired Version of Skulen Hasidic Melody 'Od Yishama'

Ahead of the large thanksgiving gatherings held by the Skulen Hasidic courts to commemorate the historic salvation miracle of their late Rebbes, Meir Kleiner, a musician and singer, has unveiled a fresh, vibrant Balkan-style arrangement of the beloved Skulen nigun "Od Yishama." This release coincides with the Shabbat Nachamu evening, when thousands of Hasidim worldwide celebrate the event honoring the righteous leaders of the dynasty, the Noam Eliezer and Maor Yisrael Rebbes, of blessed memory.

Kleiner's rendition infuses the traditional, emotionally rich Skulen melody with energetic, complex Balkan rhythms and warm sounds, creating a contemporary and dynamic interpretation that brings new life to the classic tune. The musical arrangement and production were led by musician Gregay Berca, who also performs the prominent saxophone parts.

The recording features an international ensemble of musicians, including Mario Metodiev on wind instruments and Asaf Zamir on drums, and was produced at Nitzan Perry Studios, ensuring a polished and warm sound. Complementing the music is a unique AI-generated video clip created by Nataniel Leifer, which adds a modern digital dimension that bridges the past with contemporary Jewish culture.
