High Waves and Heat Warning Issued for Israel's Mediterranean Coast This Weekend

Israel is experiencing a temporary break in the current heatwave on Friday, but strong westerly winds expected from late afternoon will bring the highest summer waves so far this season, reaching 2 to 2.5 meters along the Mediterranean coast. The Meteorological Service issued a "high and dangerous sea" warning for Friday and Saturday, also cautioning about strong currents. Following morning cloud dispersal on Saturday, temperatures will rise slightly with increased heat stress. Sunday will see partly cloudy skies with possible light drizzle along the coastal plain, then clearing later in the day, accompanied by a slight temperature drop, especially in the mountains and inland areas, where temperatures will be below seasonal averages.

The intense heatwave is forecast to return in full force by mid-next week, with temperatures exceeding seasonal norms. The UV radiation index for Friday is expected to be very high to extreme. Extreme heat stress is anticipated today in the Kinneret Valley, Dead Sea coast, Jordan Valley, and Arava regions. Temperatures in Eilat are predicted to reach 41 degrees Celsius, and 39 degrees in Ein Gedi.
