Billionaire Charles Kushner Leaves New York Citing Antisemitism by Mayor Adams

Charles Kushner, a billionaire real estate investor and father of Jared Kushner, announced he is leaving New York City to move to Florida. He cited what he described as blatant antisemitism from New York Mayor Eric Adams and his wife, Tracey Collins, as the primary reason for his departure. Kushner stated he does not want to pay taxes or live under leadership that expresses hostility toward Jews and Israel.

Kushner clarified that his decision is not related to Adams' socialist policies but specifically to his perceived animosity toward the Jewish community and Israel. He criticized Adams for refusing to participate in the Israel Day Parade, calling for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a war criminal, and supporting pro-Palestinian protesters at Columbia University who celebrated the Hamas attacks on October 7. Kushner also condemned Adams' wife for allegedly celebrating the attacks, saying it is unacceptable to tolerate people who celebrate violence and cruelty.

Currently serving as the U.S. Ambassador to France, Kushner is the father of Jared Kushner, former senior White House advisor and son-in-law to former President Donald Trump. He also criticized Adams' rhetoric against wealthy individuals, interpreting it as broader resentment toward those who have earned their wealth through hard work. Kushner expressed hope that New York, as a global economic and cultural center, is strong enough to withstand damage from one individual but warned that Adams could be that person.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in New York over political and social divisions related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and local governance under Mayor Adams.
