Two Men Stabbed in Manhattan Suspected as Antisemitic Attack, Israeli Envoy Condemns Incitement

Two men were stabbed in broad daylight on Manhattan's Upper West Side near Central Park on Thursday evening, with police investigating the incident as a potential hate crime. The first victim, a 57-year-old man, was stabbed in the back near West 84th Street and Central Park West. The assailant then proceeded north and stabbed a second man, aged 50, in the chest near West 86th Street. Both victims were taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital and are in stable condition. Witnesses reported the suspect shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the attacks.

The suspect fled the scene but was later found barricaded inside an apartment building on Amsterdam Avenue between 88th and 89th Streets. After negotiations with the NYPD Emergency Services Unit, he surrendered around 2:45 p.m. and was taken into custody for questioning. Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive but are examining whether the stabbings were antisemitic in nature. According to CBS reports, one victim is Jewish and the other of Asian descent.

Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Danny Danon, condemned the rising antisemitism in New York City, home to the largest Jewish community outside Israel. On social media, Danon criticized Zaharan Madani, accusing him of inciting hatred and endangering Jewish lives through a dangerous political campaign. Danon urged Madani to take responsibility and halt the incitement to prevent further harm.

The incident occurred amid heightened tensions at the United Nations Security Council, where Danon clashed with the Syrian ambassador, Al Albi. The investigation into the stabbing continues as police seek to clarify the suspect’s motives and any connections to hate crimes.
