Israeli Hospitals Ban Channel 14 Broadcasts Amid Political Sensitivities

The CEO of Beilinson Hospital has ordered the cessation of news broadcasts on hospital televisions, replacing them with nature programming to avoid airing Channel 14 content. This move was reported by Walla, though Channel 14 denied the hospital had issued any directive against broadcasting their channel, calling the report false and biased. Beilinson Hospital clarified that the change aims to maintain a pleasant, respectful, and non-controversial environment for patients and visitors during a sensitive period, emphasizing its apolitical stance and commitment to serving all segments of Israeli society.

Meanwhile, Tel Aviv-Yafo Deputy Mayor and Public Health Commissioner, Attorney Reuven Ladiansky, requested a similar review of content policies at Ichilov Medical Center. Ladiansky criticized Channel 14 as a propaganda tool for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government, arguing that the hospital environment should not force patients to watch politically charged content during vulnerable moments. He stressed that his concern is not about media freedom but about protecting patients from imposed exposure.

Social activist Tomer Avital, a candidate for the Knesset with the Democrats party, stated that their campaign has already led to Channel 14 being replaced with neutral content in Beilinson and Assuta hospitals. He added that similar requests have been made to the two largest health maintenance organizations, Maccabi and Clalit, and that he has also approached Ladiansky to engage Ichilov's management on the issue.
