Trump Says the War With Iran Is Over

U.S. President Donald Trump said that “today we ended the war with Iran” during a telephone rally for Georgia gubernatorial candidate Burt Jones.

Trump said Iran had agreed that it would never obtain nuclear weapons, adding that this had been the central U.S. demand. “That was the whole purpose. That was 95% of it,” he said.

The statement framed the confrontation with Iran as concluded, at least in Trump’s telling, because of the nuclear commitment he said Tehran accepted. No further details were given about the terms or timing of any agreement.
