Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Reveals How He Survived Assassination Attempt After Khamenei Strike

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi detailed in an interview how he narrowly escaped death during an airstrike that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and targeted Iran's top leadership in Tehran. Araghchi recounted that Israeli and U.S. intelligence had precise information on Khamenei's location, enabling the attack. He was reporting to Khamenei's deputy chief of staff, Ali Asgar Hejazi, when the building was hit by three successive explosions. Araghchi described escaping through debris and being taken to a hospital by a passerby, remaining unaware for three days which senior officials had survived.

He emphasized that despite the enemies' aim to paralyze Iran by targeting its leadership, they failed. Araghchi also mentioned he has not yet met with Mojtaba Khamenei but said his appointment sends a strong message that Iran's policies and ideals remain unchanged. Additionally, Araghchi stated that Iran is currently focused on creating divisions between the United States and Israel, though he did not elaborate on the methods, noting that conflicting goals and positions can be exploited.
