Israeli Mother Left Without Wedding Accommodation After Booking Company Fails to Deliver
Nurit Afrah, an Israeli mother, faced a distressing ordeal just weeks before her son's wedding when the company she booked for family accommodations, Liel Tzimers BeIsrael Ltd., failed to confirm her reservation. Despite securing 15 rooms months in advance and paying a 5,000 shekel deposit with a formal receipt, Nurit discovered only two weeks before the event that no booking had been made in her name. This left her scrambling to find alternative lodging for dozens of relatives on very short notice, causing severe emotional distress and nearly leading to a nervous breakdown.
Nurit described how the joy of preparing for her son's wedding was overshadowed by frantic searches for accommodation, tears, and anxiety that engulfed her household. She said, "Instead of enjoying and getting excited about my son's wedding, all I did was cry and look for places from morning till night." The company later admitted in writing in May that it could not fulfill the booking and promised to refund her deposit by July 1. However, Nurit claims she has yet to receive the refund, and her attempts to contact the company have been blocked.
Supporting her claims with contracts, receipts, and correspondence, Nurit has filed a lawsuit seeking compensation and hopes her case will warn other families against similar experiences. Liel Tzimers BeIsrael Ltd. responded that the company faced difficulties due to the war and assured that refunds would be issued as soon as possible.
