Israeli Court Awards Family Compensation Over Tiny Shower and Planning Flaws on Italy Tour

An Israeli family received 5,000 shekels in compensation after a disappointing organized tour in Italy, following a ruling by the Small Claims Court in Petah Tikva. The family had booked a trip to Rome and southern Italy in April 2025 through Eshet Tours for 26,600 shekels. The father testified that the shower in one hotel was only 60 by 60 centimeters, making it difficult to shower properly. Despite raising the issue with the tour guide, he was met with laughter and no assistance. The court accepted the claim that the small shower impaired the family's enjoyment and ruled that Eshet Tours should have informed travelers about such conditions in advance.

The plaintiff also complained about poor planning, unrealistic schedules, and inadequate guidance, especially during the busy Easter holiday period, which led to closed sites and overcrowding. The court found that Eshet Tours failed to clearly inform the family about these challenges, constituting a professional planning failure. However, the court rejected some claims, including lack of hotel security and schedule delays, as these were deemed outside the company's control and did not significantly affect the trip's quality.

Eshet Tours argued it was not responsible for hotel conditions and that the plaintiff was aware of the holiday crowds, having received prior warnings from the guide. The company also noted it refunded optional tours that were canceled and stated its policy allows changes to routes, guides, and hotels without cancelation rights. Ultimately, the court awarded the family 4,400 shekels in compensation plus 600 shekels for legal expenses. Eshet Tours did not provide a response to the ruling.
