Mother of Hamas Kidnap Victim Condemns Netanyahu's Controversial Video Featuring Gadi Eizenkot's Son

Maayan Sherman, mother of Ron Sherman who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 and later killed in Israeli Air Force strikes, publicly criticized a propaganda video released by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The video shows the chairman of the "Yisrael" party ignoring a young man wearing a shirt labeled "Israeli Unity" as he rushes to embrace Mansour Abbas, leader of the Ra'am party. Maayan expressed shock and anger, stating, "This is exactly what every bereaved parent dreams of, to meet their son," and condemned the video as deeply malicious and degrading.

The young man in the video, who receives a cold shoulder from the "Yisrael" leader, resembles Gali Eizenkot, a 25-year-old reserve soldier from Battalion 699 who was killed in the recent northern Gaza conflict. The video ends with a broadcaster's voice saying, "Eizenkot has no government without Yair Golan and the Arab parties."

Ron Sherman served in the Gaza Coordination and Liaison Administration and was kidnapped alive on October 7. According to an IDF investigation, Sherman, along with hostages Nick Beizer and Elia Toledano, likely died due to an Israeli Air Force strike on the area where they were held.

Just two weeks prior, Ron's father, Alex Sherman, shared a painful message highlighting verbal abuse directed at his wife Maayan, including dismissive and offensive comments about their son's death. This public outcry followed Maayan's condemnation of pro-government groups she labeled "baboons," which triggered harsh online attacks. The family’s ordeal underscores the deep societal divisions and tensions surrounding the conflict and its political ramifications.
