Mayan Sherman, the mother of Ron Sherman, said Wednesday that she was informed of new documentation of her son’s death in Hamas captivity in November 2023. In a Facebook post, she said she had no intention of watching it, writing, "I have no intention of watching it, I am afraid I won't be able to continue." She added sarcastically, "I don't know what I was blessed with, to receive today a message from the Defense Ministry about more new horror videos of Ron."
In a later post, Sherman said the notice came from an IDF casualty officer, whom she named. She described the news as another stage in an unbearable ordeal, writing, "There is a death that can happen to any of us, there is death in an accident, death in battle, death because of negligence, death because of illness, and there is a death in installments. Documented. From every possible angle. Of my child." She repeated that she could not bring herself to view the recordings, saying she feared she would not be able to keep going.
Sherman said her son died while held alongside Nick Beizer and Elia Toledano, as a byproduct of an Israeli airstrike during the killing of Hamas northern brigade commander Ahmad Randor, according to the IDF’s earlier account. The military said at the time that all three were killed in the strike's aftermath. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit declined to comment on Sherman's latest claims, citing privacy.
