Rabid Marten Found Near Ayelet Hashahar in Upper Galilee, Health Ministry Issues Warning

The Israeli Ministry of Health reported that a marten infected with rabies was discovered in orchards near the settlement of Ayelet Hashahar in the Upper Galilee. The notification about the infected animal was received today. One person who had contact with the marten has been referred for preventive treatment. The Ministry urges anyone who was in contact with animals in the area between July 2 and July 16 to urgently contact the Safed Health Office at 04-6994257 or 04-6994200. Pet owners are also advised to verify their animals' vaccination status with the official veterinarian.
