Customer Finds Sushi Delivery Picked Up From Floor, Sparks Complaint Against Wolt
On the evening of the World Cup final last Sunday, Michal Lasri ordered a 500-shekel sushi delivery through the Wolt delivery service to her home in Rishon LeZion. However, the family soon noticed missing sushi pieces, which raised suspicions. The incriminating footage was provided by Lasri's sister-in-law, who witnessed the delivery person causing a mess and then retrieving leftover food from the dirty sidewalk beneath the building just moments before delivery.
Initially, Lasri's husband joked that the delivery person might have been hungry and ate some of the order en route. The delivery person fled without waiting for a tip. The shock over the food handling quickly turned into frustration with Wolt's customer service. Lasri described a grueling four-hour interaction with automated bots, which ended with a proposed compensation of only 15 shekels, an amount she called "ridiculous."
Wolt later contacted her to offer a full refund, which she rejected, stating that the company had failed to deliver the product and that refunding the money was not a favor. Wolt responded by apologizing for the incident, explaining that the bag was torn during delivery and acknowledging that their handling of the case was inadequate. They emphasized that this is not the standard they set for themselves, assured they compensated the customer, and said they are learning from the incident to improve their service.
