Finance Minister Smotrich Says Israel Has No Interest in Joining Iran Conflict Now

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated at a Gush Katif Heritage Center conference that despite heightened preparedness, Israel currently has no interest in entering a conflict with Iran. He emphasized that the ongoing tension between the US and Iran is preferable for Israel at this time. Smotrich clarified that Israel's ultimate goal is to destabilize and weaken the Iranian regime, which openly seeks Israel's destruction, primarily through economic means rather than military engagement.

Smotrich highlighted that Israel remains ready for any scenario, with the IDF on high alert. He warned that any Iranian attack on Israel would be met with a strong and decisive response. He noted that Israel is close to a political decision that could allow the Israeli Air Force unrestricted operations over Iran.

Addressing recent harsh criticism of IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi by Shas leader Aryeh Deri, Smotrich strongly rejected such remarks, including those from within his own political camp. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and military leadership, praising the IDF and intelligence forces as the best in the world and reaffirming Israel's strong alliance with the United States.
