Finance Minister Smotrich Opposes Israel Joining Full-Scale War Against Iran

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich expressed opposition to Israel joining a full-scale war against Iran, stating that currently Israel has no interest in entering the conflict. Speaking on Tuesday at the Katif National Responsibility Conference, Smotrich said the current situation, where the conflict is limited between Iran and the United States, is the best scenario for Israel. He emphasized that Israel's primary goal differs from the US, aiming to weaken and ultimately topple the Iranian regime, which openly threatens Israel's existence. Smotrich advocated for economic measures as the most effective way to bring down the regime.

He also stressed that Israel must remain prepared for any scenario, highlighting that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are on high alert. Smotrich warned that if Iran attacks Israel, it would face a strong and decisive military response, with the IDF ready to conduct unrestricted airstrikes over Iranian territory if politically authorized.

Additionally, Smotrich defended IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir amid recent coalition criticism, thanking Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister for their leadership. He praised the Israeli military and intelligence services, calling them the best in the world and reaffirming Israel's strong strategic partnerships.
