Israeli Man Charged for Threatening Business Owner in Golan Heights

A 42-year-old resident of Tuba-Zangariyye has been indicted for threatening a businessman who opened a business in the Golan Heights, demanding he vacate the premises so the suspect could take over. The police released recordings of the threatening phone calls as part of the evidence. The indictment was filed at the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate's Court along with a request to detain the suspect until the conclusion of legal proceedings.

The investigation began in early July after the businessman filed a complaint. It revealed that during June, the suspect repeatedly called the businessman, insisting he leave the business, claiming he wanted to replace him. In one call, the suspect said, "I am entering there, don’t come near, I made an offer and want to enter the business." When the businessman said he was in a meeting, the suspect shouted that the businessman would not enter the work or become a partner, asserting the business was his.

A few days later, the suspect visited the business, identified himself, and reiterated, "I am the one who spoke to you on the phone. You will not stay here." Police quickly located and arrested the suspect, with his detention extended multiple times. Evidence was collected during the investigation supporting the charges of threats and extortion. The police emphasized their ongoing commitment to combating extortion, violence, and the use of weapons to protect the public and prosecute offenders.
