Vizhnitz Rebbe Personally Signs Grandson’s Weekly School Study Note in Ashdod

At the Vizhnitz Hasidic school "Tzemach Tzaddik" in Ashdod, an unusual event took place when Mordechai Hager, the 8-year-old grandson of the Vizhnitz Rebbe, submitted his weekly study note signed not by his parents but by his great-grandfather, the Rebbe himself. In the ultra-Orthodox community, it is customary for students to bring a note signed by their parents every Sunday confirming they studied the weekly material at home. However, last Sunday, the teacher received a note personally signed by one of the leading figures of the Haredi community in Israel.

This special moment occurred after the Rebbe spent the previous Shabbat in the Vizhnitz neighborhood of Bnei Brak with thousands of followers. The young boy, who was there with his family, visited the Rebbe’s room to receive a blessing. During their meeting, the child told his great-grandfather that he had just completed studying the Talmudic tractate "Berachot." The Rebbe then decided to test his grandson’s knowledge himself. Impressed by the boy’s proficiency, the Rebbe signed the note by hand, which was intended for the teacher in Ashdod, giving the child a unique keepsake.

This rare gesture highlights the Rebbe’s personal involvement in his grandson’s education and serves as a meaningful symbol within the Haredi educational tradition.
