Gur Hasidim Protest Outside Israeli Attorney General's Home Over Yeshiva Student Arrest

Around 200 Gur Hasidim protested late Tuesday night outside the home of Israel's Attorney General, Gali Baharav-Miara, in Tel Aviv. The demonstrators carried signs stating "No Torah student is abandoned" and "Whoever disgraces Torah scholars has no share in the world to come," voicing their opposition to recent events. The protest followed earlier unrest at a large rally near Prison 10, where thousands of Gur Hasidim gathered to protest the arrest of a yeshiva student from their community.

Initially, the Gur leadership planned a large-scale demonstration involving thousands, but due to overcrowding and disturbances during the earlier rally, the broader event was canceled. Despite the cancellation, a smaller group independently proceeded to the Attorney General's residence. The protest saw several physical and verbal confrontations between demonstrators and passersby.

The earlier rally at Prison 10 was notable for the participation of the Gur Rebbe himself. The event, coordinated with police, became dangerously overcrowded, causing a fence breach around the prison. This led to a temporary halt of the protest, with United Torah Judaism chairman and Minister Itzhak Goldknopf urging attendees via loudspeaker to step back to prevent a disaster and ensure safety. This marks the second time the Gur community has protested outside Prison 10.
