Hapoel Haifa Negotiates to Sign Former Manchester City Midfielder Jorginho
Hapoel Haifa is in talks to sign 30-year-old attacking midfielder Jorginho, who recently played in the Cypriot First Division for Omonia Aradippou. Known officially as Jorge Fernando Barbosa Intima, Jorginho holds Portuguese citizenship and is currently a free agent. The club aims to bring him to Israel soon for trials during training sessions and the Toto Cup, with hopes of signing him for the upcoming season if he impresses.
Jorginho developed in Manchester City's youth academy before moving to Portuguese club Arouca. In 2017, he transferred to French side Saint-Étienne for one million euros. His career also includes stints in Bulgaria, Poland, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Egypt. Internationally, he has earned 28 caps and scored five goals for Guinea-Bissau, participating in several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. His current market value is estimated at approximately 275,000 euros.
Hapoel Haifa continues to strengthen its attacking options following the recent signing of Shik Keita, who also joined after a trial period. Negotiations with Jorginho are ongoing, and the club plans to evaluate him thoroughly before finalizing any contract.
