Hapoel Haifa Negotiates with Former Manchester City Midfielder Jorginho
Hapoel Haifa is in talks to sign attacking midfielder Jorginho, who grew up in Manchester City's youth system and has recently played in the Cypriot First Division. The 30-year-old, whose full name is Jorge Fernando Barbosa Intima, is a free agent after last season with Omonia Aradippou. He holds Portuguese citizenship and can operate as an attacking midfielder or on either wing.
Jorginho's career includes stints at Portuguese club Arouca, French side Saint-Étienne (transferred for one million euros in 2017), Bulgarian Ludogorets, Polish Wisła Płock, and teams in Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Egypt before moving to Cyprus. Internationally, he has earned 28 caps for Guinea-Bissau, scoring five goals and participating in multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. His current market value is estimated at around 275,000 euros.
Negotiations are ongoing, and if successful, Jorginho will arrive in Israel for trials during upcoming training sessions and Toto Cup matches. Should he impress, he is expected to sign a one-year contract with Hapoel Haifa, following a similar process to that of Shik Keita, who also trialed before signing earlier this summer.
