Israeli Home Front Command Assists Venezuela in Transitioning from Rescue to Reconstruction

The Israeli Home Front Command's expert delegation has been operating in Venezuela for nearly three weeks, aiding local authorities in assessing damage, prioritizing needs, and laying the groundwork for long-term reconstruction following severe destruction. This 32-member team is the longest-running aid mission in the history of the Home Front Command, currently active in La Guaira near Caracas.

Brigadier General (Res.) Yossi Pinto, commander of the national rescue and relief unit and head of the expert delegation, described the coastal area as heavily damaged with hundreds of buildings destroyed, calling the situation complex and extensive. The delegation's main focus is helping local authorities shift from immediate emergency response to the reconstruction phase by providing expertise, assisting in national situation assessments, decision-making processes, and establishing priorities.

Pinto emphasized that the recovery process will be lengthy, spanning months or even years, and the mission aims to equip Venezuelan officials with professional tools to manage the challenges ahead. The Israeli team continues its work even after most international aid groups have left, maintaining close cooperation with local authorities who value their recommendations. Pinto expressed hope that the joint efforts and resources provided will support Venezuela's effective recovery in the coming years.
