Yeshiva Head Rabbi Moshe Tzadaka Visits Ashdod for Grandson's Engagement and Lays Cornerstone for New Study Center

On Sunday night in Ashdod, Rabbi Moshe Tzadaka, head of the Porat Yosef Yeshiva, arrived to celebrate the engagement of his grandson, Yitzchak Atiya, a distinguished student of the Zohar HaTorah Yeshiva in Jerusalem. Yitzchak is the son of Rabbi Mordechai Atiya, head of the Shaarei Yeshuah Kollel, and the groom's mother is the daughter of Rabbi Aryeh Amsalem, deputy director of the Hanhichai HaYeshivot Talmud Torah and director of the Shirat Hadassah girls' seminary. Upon arrival, Rabbi Tzadaka warmly blessed the couple and their families, wishing them to build a faithful home in Israel grounded in Torah and reverence.

The celebration began with the groom completing a Talmudic tractate, following yeshiva tradition. Rabbi Tzadaka delivered an emotional speech emphasizing the importance of combining Torah study with proper character and conduct, stating that a Torah scholar's perfection is measured not only by knowledge but by elevated traits. Rabbi Yisrael Zilberberg of the Zera Shimshon Kollel praised the groom's dedication, noting his five years of study and teaching from the holy book. Rabbi Yechiel Zucker, head of the New Seminary in Ashdod and a leader of the Bnei Pinchas community, also spoke.

Later that night, Rabbi Tzadaka visited the Hanhichai HaYeshivot Beit Midrash "Beit Shmaya" in Ashdod's Quarter 3, where community scholars and Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov, head of the Da'at Torah Yeshiva for young men, awaited him. He delivered an inspiring speech to the scholars and laid the cornerstone for a new Torah study center adjacent to the existing building. Under the glow of lamps and in a sacred atmosphere, Rabbi Tzadaka blessed the site to become a "small sanctuary" dedicated to Torah and prayer. Near midnight, the rabbis and scholars escorted him to his car, expressing gratitude for his efforts and uplifting words as he returned to Jerusalem.
