Likud MK Moshe Saada Predicts Imminent Incident With Iran Amid Rising Tensions

Likud Member of Knesset Moshe Saada spoke on 103FM radio on Monday about the growing possibility of a confrontation with Iran. He stated that while no one desires a war in mid-August, Israel faces a complex security situation and the baseline assumption is that an incident with Iran will occur this week. Saada noted that the United States is expected to intensify its strikes against Iran, but so far the conflict has not spilled over into Israel because Iran remains deterred, launching missiles toward Jordan and fearing Israeli retaliation.

Saada also addressed internal Likud party dynamics ahead of the upcoming primaries. He predicted a significant shift, with the party base choosing more ideological and professional Knesset candidates who actively fight for their constituents. Responding to internal opposition led by MK David Bitan against Prime Minister Netanyahu’s moves, Saada agreed with Bitan that allowing ministers to run in regional districts prevents party renewal, citing examples of current ministers who rose through district ranks.

However, Saada emphasized the need for Netanyahu’s reserved slots on the party list, especially after the events of October 7, to ensure representation of the reserve forces, families of hostages, and border communities who cannot participate in primaries due to the sensitive nature of their roles. He concluded that Netanyahu was right to insist on meaningful reserved placements in the top ten list positions, a compromise that was ultimately accepted within the party.
