Maccabi Tel Aviv Narrows Contract Gap with Guard Efe Lundberg Ahead of New Season

Maccabi Tel Aviv is advancing its preparations for the upcoming basketball season by working to retain one of last season's standout players, Danish guard Efe Lundberg. Recent negotiations between the club and Lundberg have intensified, with both parties expressing a strong desire to continue their collaboration. Lundberg has recently softened his financial demands, which were initially around $2 million, an offer that Maccabi Tel Aviv has formally presented to him and which has been on the table for several days.

Although Lundberg has other offers, he recognizes his significant role and status within Maccabi Tel Aviv, influencing his positive consideration of the club's proposal. Earlier in the negotiation process, Lundberg initially requested a salary of $1.6 million per season, while Maccabi was willing to pay $1.2 million. During the final stages of last season, particularly in the upper playoffs where Lundberg was among the top performers, his representatives raised the demand to $10 million over three seasons. Maccabi rejected this figure and communicated their position to Lundberg's agents.

The ongoing talks suggest that the financial gap between the player and the club has narrowed considerably, increasing the likelihood of Lundberg signing a new contract and remaining with Maccabi Tel Aviv for the forthcoming season.
