Israeli Police Arrest Suspect in Attempted Arson at Haifa Japnika Branch

Israeli police arrested a 28-year-old resident of Kiryat Ata on suspicion of attempting to set fire to a Japnika restaurant branch in the Carmel Center of Haifa last week. The suspect was detained by detectives from the Carmel District's Crime Fighting Unit following an investigation that began after a report of the arson attempt. After his interrogation, the suspect was brought before the court, which approved the police request to extend his detention.

The investigation into the incident started last week, and police efforts led to identifying the suspect involved. The Japnika chain has recently been targeted amid escalating conflicts between the Mosli and Jarushi crime organizations. Some franchisees of Japnika are allegedly linked to the Jarushi group, making the restaurant chain a target in this criminal dispute. Authorities emphasized that there is no suspicion of criminal involvement by Japnika owner Barak Abramov.

The police continue to investigate the case as part of broader efforts to address organized crime-related violence in the region. The suspect remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
