Polls published tonight by News 14 indicate broad support for an independent Israeli policy toward Iran and Lebanon. • 76% believe Netanyahu was right to act in Iran despite Trump’s request, 79% do not believe Iran’s uranium can be removed through an agreement alone, and 78% think the ceasefire demand in Lebanon harmed Israel’s security
The public supports Israeli independence: Three new polls published tonight, Thursday, on News 14 reveal the picture of Israeli public opinion regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s foreign and security policy in the face of President-elect Donald Trump. The findings indicate support for independent Israeli decisions, even when they conflict with the position of the future American administration.
The justification for the strike in Iran: The central question examined whether Netanyahu acted correctly when he decided to attack in Iran despite Trump’s request to refrain from doing so. The results show that 76% of the public believe Netanyahu was right in his decision. By contrast, 17% think it was a mistake, while 7% of respondents have no clear opinion on the matter.
Skepticism about the uranium deal: Israeli public opinion is pessimistic about Donald Trump’s ability to achieve gains against Iran through diplomatic means alone. According to the poll, 79% of respondents do not believe Trump will succeed in removing uranium from Iran through an agreement, without the use of military force. By contrast, 13% of respondents think this is possible, and another 8% said they have no opinion.
The criticism of the ceasefire demand in Lebanon: In the northern theater as well, the Israeli public is expressing reservations about American pressure. A majority of 78% of respondents believe Trump harmed Israel’s security when he demanded a ceasefire in Lebanon for more than a month. On the other hand, 16% believe the demand did not harm the country’s security, and 6% said they have no opinion on the matter.
