Israeli Content Creator Behind Viral Anti-Israel Video Prepares to Testify in Australian Trial

Max Veifer, an Israeli content creator, gained international attention after a video he recorded with Australian medical staff sparked a global controversy over antisemitism. In the video, the Australian healthcare workers expressed hostility towards Israelis, refusing treatment and making inflammatory claims. The incident led to their suspension and a criminal investigation. However, the video itself was ruled inadmissible as evidence in the upcoming trial scheduled for August, where Veifer will still testify.

Veifer, known for his online activism against antisemitism and conspiracy theories, described the widespread reaction to the video, noting he received tens of thousands of messages and became widely recognized internationally. He explained his approach to distinguishing between genuine antisemitism and criticism of Israeli policies, emphasizing dialogue where possible but exposing dangerous rhetoric. Despite increased recognition, Veifer said many now recognize and insult him online, sometimes leading to account blocks due to mass reporting.

Beyond the controversy, Veifer recently shared his personal family story, revealing he was raised by his grandparents, believing them to be his parents until age 12. His biological parents had left when he was young, and only recently did he reconnect with his biological father, sharing a difficult conversation publicly to raise awareness about similar family situations.

Veifer supports himself primarily through English courses he offers, as his activism and educational videos generate minimal income. He currently has over 2,000 students across age groups. Recently, he has expanded his public work by collaborating with Israel’s Ministry of Immigration and Absorption on anti-racism campaigns and with the National Cyber Directorate on fraud prevention for seniors.

Asked about future ambitions, Veifer expressed openness to advancing his activism into diplomatic or political arenas to broaden his impact. Meanwhile, the Australian trial continues to highlight challenges in addressing antisemitism within healthcare systems abroad.
