In Tasnim, they claimed that the cancellation of the strike constitutes “another retreat by Trump, again on the grounds of progress in negotiations. Over the past two months, Trump has stated 38 times that an agreement is within reach and close to being signed. Within just three days, he ‘imagined’ sending his deputy to Pakistan four times.” According to them, “as long as Iran itself does not announce the existence of a possible understanding or agreement, Trump’s words should be regarded as part of his previous series of messages.”

A few minutes later, Trump told the New York Post that the agreement was “almost completely” signed.
