Amid Arrest Fears, Esteemed Rabbi Encourages Satmar Students at His Home
Torah in purity amid persecution: In these difficult days, as the world of Torah faces a severe upheaval and yeshiva students feel the fear of the authorities in the city streets, worried that they may be arrested and find themselves behind the walls of a military prison for their only offense, choosing to remain faithful to the Army of God and study Torah, a select group of fine students from the distinguished Tzanz Yeshiva were granted a moment of uplifting spiritual comfort.
The students were privileged to visit the home of Mara D'Ara Kadisha, the decisor, the eminent Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, at his holy residence in Jerusalem, to hear the word of God and receive his blessing for continued growth in Torah and fear of Heaven. Leading the delegation of students was Rabbi Meir Meshulam Halberstam, the son of the Rebbe of Tzanz.
At the request of the Rebbe's son, Rabbi Sternbuch delivered a brief, fiery address to them, in which he emphasized the sacred duty placed upon yeshiva students in our generation. "To continue in the Army of God and not to be enticed," he said, strengthening the hearts of the students and telling them that they must stand firm and by no means be tempted by the advice of the evil inclination, which seeks to cool off the learners, but rather continue to labor over Torah and worship with all their strength, for they are the ones who protect the generation. The decisor warmly blessed them that they would merit to continue delving into Torah and thereby merit to raise upright, God-fearing, and complete generations, as the will of God.
At the conclusion of the sacred discussion, all the students were able to pass before him to receive a blessing for all good things, for continued success in Torah and fear of Heaven, in the path handed down to us from generation to generation.
