Israeli Border Police Commandos Arrest Terror Suspect in Covert Operation in Azariya
Israeli Border Police commandos conducted a covert operation in the village of Azariya, located in the Etzion Brigade area, resulting in the arrest of a suspect involved in terrorist activities. The operation was carried out under precise intelligence guidance from the Shin Bet, in cooperation with Border Police fighters from Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria, as well as IDF soldiers from the Etzion Brigade. The commandos infiltrated the village discreetly to avoid unnecessary clashes with the local population and quickly apprehended the suspect, who was immediately transferred for further interrogation by the Shin Bet regarding his terrorist involvement.
The Israeli Police spokesperson emphasized that Border Police fighters, alongside all security forces, will continue to act decisively to thwart terrorism and arrest suspects anywhere and anytime to ensure the safety of Israeli civilians. No injuries were reported among the security forces during the operation.
This arrest in Azariya is part of a series of recent operations by commando units across Judea and Samaria aimed at preventing attacks and detaining terrorists planning to harm Israeli civilians and security personnel. A similar operation was recently conducted in Silat al-Harithiya in the Jenin district, also under Shin Bet guidance, which ended successfully without casualties.
Security officials assess that the ongoing intelligence efforts by Shin Bet combined with the operational capabilities of commando units play a crucial role in preventing attacks and disrupting terrorist infrastructure. These frequent arrests hinder terrorist organizations from freely operating and executing attack plans. The commando units undergo rigorous training, including Arabic language proficiency, deep cultural knowledge, and convincing disguise skills, enabling them to operate covertly and safely in hostile environments.
Israeli security forces continue daily operations in Judea and Samaria to prevent terrorism and protect Israeli citizens, maintaining close cooperation between commando units, special forces, and intelligence agencies to locate and arrest suspects.
