Senator John Fetterman Warns He Will Leave Democrats If Party Turns Anti-Israel

Democratic Senator John Fetterman, known as a strong supporter of Israel in the United States, has issued a warning that he will leave the Democratic Party if it officially adopts an anti-Israel stance. Fetterman expressed deep concern about the increasing polarization within the party and the growing anti-Israel sentiment among its members. "I am still a Democrat, but if our party ever officially becomes anti-Israel, that will be the time to leave it. I cannot be in a place without moral clarity," he stated.

Fetterman highlighted a recent legislative effort that failed, which aimed to cut off security aid to Israel. Notably, the bill was introduced by a Republican, yet over 100 Democrats voted in favor, while no Democrats joined the Republican sponsor. He pointed to the recent primary election winners within the party, saying, "They are becoming increasingly anti-Israel and hostile toward those who support Israel."

He accused some politicians of exploiting anti-Israel sentiment to gain voter support, describing it as an inappropriate manipulation of the situation. Fetterman is recognized as a dedicated friend of Israel; following the deadly Hamas attack on October 7, he displayed photos of all hostages held by Hamas in his office until their return. When pro-Palestinian protesters accused Israel of genocide outside his office, he pointed to the Israeli flag flying atop the building as a sign of his stance.
