Incoming Mossad chief Gofman appoints new deputy
Incoming Mossad chief Roman Gofman today (Thursday) appointed A. as his deputy and as head of the organization’s operations directorate. The appointment was approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, A., who comes from "the core of operational activity and brings with him knowledge, experience and a deep familiarity with the organization," will enter the role immediately. Last week, just four days after taking office, Mossad chief Gofman dismissed his deputy. A.'s departure joins that of D., head of the Tevel division, and there are additional senior officials expected to leave the organization’s ranks.
In this evening’s statement, it was written that "the move is being made as part of the Mossad chief’s entry into office, as he seeks to shape the senior leadership team that will accompany him in achieving the goals and challenges facing the organization in the coming years."
