US Approves $2.44 Billion Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Citing Regional Stability

The United States has approved arms sales to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait totaling approximately $2.44 billion. The larger deal, valued at about $1.96 billion, involves Saudi Arabia purchasing up to 20,000 advanced precision guidance kits. The smaller transaction, worth $484 million, is designated for Kuwait to support maintenance and logistical assistance for its fleet of C-17 transport aircraft.

The US State Department emphasized that these sales aim to strengthen the security of key US allies in the Middle East who are not NATO members. Officials also stated that the proposed arms transfers will not alter the fundamental military balance in the region.
