Panathinaikos Pursues Facundo Campazzo in Ambitious EuroLeague Move
Panathinaikos is intensifying its efforts to sign Facundo Campazzo from Real Madrid, aiming for a major acquisition in the EuroLeague. According to Greek outlet Sport 24, the club is actively exploring the market for a high-level point guard and is prepared to make a substantial financial offer to secure the Argentine star. Campazzo is currently under contract with Real Madrid until summer 2028, meaning any transfer would require Madrid's approval, likely involving a significant transfer fee.
Campazzo, regarded as one of Europe's top point guards over the past decade, averaged 12 points and 5.1 assists in 24.5 minutes per game last EuroLeague season. Panathinaikos had previously made a lucrative offer to him in 2023 when he returned to Europe, but he chose to rejoin Real Madrid after a brief stint with Crvena Zvezda.
Following a disappointing season without a Greek championship and a poor European campaign, Panathinaikos parted ways with coach Argin Ataman and appointed Željko Obradović. The team has already strengthened its roster by signing Gershon Yabusele, Isaac Bonga, Branko Bađio, and Mustapha Fall, signaling a strong push to improve its competitiveness in the upcoming season.
