Israeli Halachic-Rabbinic Center Prepares Medical Response Hotline for Tisha B'Av Fasting Queries

Ahead of the Tisha B'Av fast, the Israeli Halachic-Rabbinic Center "Hora'ah BeYisrael" is preparing to operate a dedicated halachic-medical response hotline. This service will provide answers from expert rabbis and doctors to hundreds of questions related to fasting, especially for individuals facing medical challenges such as chronic illnesses, diabetes, post-surgical recovery, regular medication use, and special conditions affecting women.

The center has expanded its team to include leading rabbis such as Rabbi Nathan Kopschitz, Rabbi Israel Guelman, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Karp, and others, alongside senior physicians including Dr. David Morel and Dr. Yitzhak Zusman. These doctors will present precise medical data to the rabbis, enabling informed halachic rulings tailored to each caller's health status.

To address heavy call volumes experienced in previous years, the hotline's technology has been upgraded with an advanced system to reduce wait times. A skilled technical team will be on standby throughout the hotline’s operation hours to promptly resolve any issues. The hotline will operate continuously on Tuesday, the 7th of Av, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The center encourages the public to pre-register their questions along with relevant medical documents, a system that proved successful last year by allowing efficient routing and personalized responses without unnecessary delays. Prior to the hotline’s activation, the rabbis and doctors will convene for a preparatory halachic-medical conference to update on current diseases and medications, ensuring all responses align with halachic integrity and comprehensive medical understanding.
