Uman Breslov Leaders Coordinate with Kyiv Authorities for Large Rosh Hashanah Gathering

Ahead of the major Rosh Hashanah gathering of Breslov Hasidim in Uman for the year 5786, a preparatory meeting was held in Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, with relevant government officials. The annual meeting aims to coordinate the extensive logistical arrangements needed for the expected arrival of thousands of pilgrims visiting Rabbi Nachman of Breslov's gravesite. Representing the Breslov community was Rabbi Natan Ben Nun, chairman of the 'Breslov Union in Uman,' who was invited by Ukrainian authorities to present the pilgrims' needs and facilitate comprehensive planning.

The meeting included representatives from all emergency and security branches in Ukraine, such as medical services coordinating emergency healthcare, fire department officials approving safety protocols for gathering, lodging, and prayer areas, police and border control managing border crossings and public order, and Viktor Yelensky, head of the Ukrainian State Service for Ethno-Political Affairs. Rabbi Ben Nun shared detailed information about the upcoming Rosh Hashanah period, and Ukrainian officials praised the longstanding cooperation with the Breslov Union, highlighting the benefits of their organized and consistent collaboration.

At the conclusion, a follow-up meeting was scheduled between Breslov Union representatives and key government officials to finalize the operational plan and all logistical details on the ground. This annual Kyiv meeting follows the same format each year, incorporating lessons learned from previous years. Rabbi Ben Nun emphasized that the Breslov Union is invited every year to represent the community and ensure smooth preparations. Early coordination with Kyiv authorities is a critical step to guarantee the successful arrival and accommodation of the Hasidim in Uman during the month of Tishrei 5786.
