Luxury Homeware Store Collect Showcases Handcrafted High-End Brands in Tel Aviv
Collect, a new luxury design store in Tel Aviv's Kikar HaMedina, offers an exclusive selection of handcrafted homeware items with prices that may seem extraordinary to most Israelis. The store features products such as a single porcelain plate priced at 1,200 shekels, an Italian glass vase costing 6,000 shekels, espresso cup sets for 699 shekels, and Egyptian cotton bedding starting at 2,500 shekels. Collect aims to present not only luxury goods but also brands with long-standing traditions of craftsmanship, patience, and heritage, contrasting with the modern trend of mass production.
The store is led by co-founders Maxim Slavin and Karin Shelef Aviv, who emphasize curating products that embody quality, history, and artisanal work rather than merely expensive or beautiful items. Slavin explains that their selection process involves extensive research to find brands that maintain slow, manual production methods, often spanning centuries of tradition. Customers range from those purchasing single items to those acquiring complete sets, all seeking to enhance their homes within their budgets.
Among the highlighted brands is Gien, a French porcelain maker established in 1821, known for plates that require days or weeks of artisan work. Another featured brand is Robert Haviland’s Matignon series, inspired by the gardens of the French Prime Minister’s residence and recognized for hand-applied real gold decorations. Prices for these items reflect the labor-intensive process, with single plates costing 1,200 shekels and full dining sets reaching tens of thousands.
The store also showcases Michael Aram’s nature-inspired metal vases, priced around 1,500 shekels, and exclusive Italian glassworks from Venini, a Murano-based brand founded in 1921. Venini pieces are hand-blown by Italian artisans, with unique variations in each item, such as the iconic Fazzoletto vase priced at 6,000 shekels.
In the textile section, Collect offers high-quality Egyptian cotton bedding by Bianco Perla, a Tuscan brand since 1955, with custom tailoring options and prices starting at 2,500 shekels. Slavin stresses that the store’s focus is on the story, heritage, and craftsmanship behind each product rather than just the price or appearance. Collect’s curated collection appeals to discerning customers who value artisanal quality and tradition in a fast-paced, mass-produced world.
