Israeli Health Ministry Warns of Salmonella in Illegal Algimal Tahini Products
The Israeli Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday evening a suspicion of salmonella contamination in Algimal tahini products. The Food Service of the Ministry found the bacteria in two specific products during routine sampling. Further investigation revealed that these products were imported into Israel illegally, without proper approvals, and their production conditions remain unknown.
The contaminated products identified are white tahini made from premium sesame, produced by Algimal Tahini Factory, in two package sizes: 1 kilogram with a production date of March 2026 and a best-before date of March 2027, and 500 grams with a production date of April 2026 and a best-before date of April 2027. The public has been urged not to consume these products.
In a related note, the Ministry also reported that an investigation into a recent poisoning of toddlers linked to Nutrilon products yielded no results. However, the Ministry located Nutrilon products that were intended for recall.
