Israeli Druze Climber Alim Faris Dies in Fall on Swiss Alps' Matterhorn

Alim Faris, a 32-year-old Druze man from the local council of Hurfeish in Israel, died on Sunday after falling from a great height while climbing in the Swiss Alps near the Matterhorn mountain. According to Swiss authorities, Faris and another climber were traversing the Hörnli ridge trail close to the Solvay Hut when both fell from approximately 4,030 meters. Rescue teams found both climbers deceased at the scene. Another climber who witnessed the accident suffered shock and was airlifted for medical treatment.

Hours before the fatal accident, Faris posted a video showing himself hiking alone in the mountains, ominously stating, "If you don't hear from me, come get the body." The identification process took a full day before confirming Faris as one of the victims. The circumstances leading to the fall remain unclear.
