IDF Soldier Faces Conditional Jail and Dismissal Over Ties to Controversial Antisemitic Influencer

Shira Brown, an active-duty Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier serving in the International Communications branch of the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, was sentenced to conditional imprisonment and dismissed from her role following her association with Braden Peters, a controversial antisemitic social media influencer known as "Clavicular." Peters, who has previously been filmed celebrating to the song "Hail Hitler" by Kanye West alongside other antisemitic internet personalities, recently visited Israel, sparking public outrage.

Brown was seen publicly with Peters during his visit, including going on a date accompanied by her mother, spending time together on the Tel Aviv promenade, and practicing acro-yoga. The two even called Brown's father to seek his permission for the date. After the controversy erupted, Brown's Instagram account was closed amid threats to her life. She posted that she had received hundreds of death threats, condemning calls for violence against a Jewish woman.

The IDF confirmed that after a disciplinary hearing and a command discussion regarding Brown's conduct, she was given a suspended sentence that would activate if she commits another disciplinary offense. Additionally, she was stripped of her professional qualifications and reassigned from her unit. The decision was made following a trial by her commanders and a formal command discussion.
