Beitar Jerusalem Announces Four Players Excluded From 2026/27 Season Plans
Beitar Jerusalem is preparing to open the 2026/27 season with a festive training session at Beit Vagan, expected to draw thousands of fans. While excitement builds among supporters, the club is actively reshaping its squad, informing four players that they are not part of the plans for the upcoming season. Defender Uri Dahan was told he is unlikely to receive significant playing time and may seek a transfer to find more minutes on the field. Additionally, players Ravid Abergil and Ilai Hajaj have also been notified they are not included in the professional plans for the season.
Regarding Ailson Tavares, Romanian club Dinamo Bucharest initially sought only to take over his contract but now are willing to pay a transfer fee. Beitar, however, prefers either a loan or a paid transfer, having purchased Tavares for approximately $200,000 last summer. On the injury front, midfielder Tomer Yosefi is showing physical progress after his injury, with the club optimistic he will be fit for the Europa Conference League second leg against AEK Larnaca. He is expected to rest in the upcoming league match against Hapoel Tel Aviv, along with Luka Gadrani.
Due to the absence of Georgian defender and the suspension of Brian Crabali from last season, Liel Drai and Gil Cohen are expected to start in central defense against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the European competition. Meanwhile, fans are gearing up for the traditional season-opening training session, where players including Sean Waisman, Daniel Vorko, Noam Motza, and Tomer Yosefi will be warmly welcomed. These new additions come amid departures of Jessund Gonzalez, Yarin Levi, and Dor Micha, marking significant squad changes ahead of the new season. The Jerusalem Police are preparing for the event, and the club plans to distribute player sets to fans during the session.
